PHOENIX, AZ – August 3, 2025 – Curt Mercadante, founder of ResiliencePR, said an organization’s target market is the audience that matters most.

“Your job is to deliver signal… not get distracted by noise,” Mercadante wrote in a LinkedIn post. “Not the pundits. Not your kitchen cabinet. Not the peanut gallery.”

”And certainly not so-called marketing leaders who can’t escape their own personal biases to provide objective counsel,” he wrote.

Mercadante defined “signal” as what the audience truly wants—“the unique value, the meaningful impact, the reason they say yes.” He described “noise” as opinions from people who were never going to buy, donate, vote, or join.

“Your signal-to-noise ratio determines your effectiveness,” he said. “Listen closely to the people you exist to serve. Then tune everything else out.”

He added that this applies whether someone is building a product, running a campaign, leading a nonprofit, or launching a movement.

ResiliencePR works with entrepreneurs, advocates, and campaign leaders to help them develop public relations strategies focused on delivering the right message to the right audience.
